klatchpoint. marketplace [Summer Program 2026]
Turning points into real opportunities
klatchpoint. is a platform that promotes interaction between participants, companies and organisers through gamification mechanisms.
The klatchpoint.marketplace was created to give a new purpose to the points earned during events: turning them into rewards, experiences and opportunities with real value.
From CV reviews and coffee chats to workshops, talks and professional experiences, participants can now choose how to use their points.
The klatchpoint.marketplace was developed during Codepoint's 2026 Summer Program by a multidisciplinary team made up of three developers, a project manager and a marketing manager.
The application was designed around the three main stakeholders involved in events:
Participants: discover and redeem rewards using the points they have earned.
Companies: create rewards, manage requests and monitor participant interest.
Organisers: oversee the Marketplace and access the event's main indicators.
Together, these three experiences turn gamification into something more useful, relevant and engaging.
Turning points into real opportunities.
Participants could already earn points and badges on klatchpoint., but these were mainly used for rankings and recognition within the event.
The challenge was to give them a practical purpose without turning the experience into a simple race for points.
We also needed to create value for everyone involved:
Relevant rewards for participants;
More meaningful interactions for companies;
Greater engagement and control for organisers.
The solution was to create a Marketplace integrated with klatchpoint., where each reward can have its own cost, stock, requirements and redemption conditions.
The development of the klatchpoint.marketplace was made possible by a multidisciplinary team, where each member contributed to turning a real challenge into a functional solution.

For participants: turn points into useful rewards and make it easier to access new opportunities.
For companies: promote relevant experiences, increase visibility and create more meaningful interactions.
For organisers: increase engagement and simplify reward management.
From a technical perspective: develop a secure, scalable web application integrated with klatchpoint.
From an experience perspective: ensure a simple, responsive interface adapted to each user profile.
To ensure the solution responded to the needs of participants, companies and organisers, we began with a research and validation phase.
Benchmarking: we analysed 11 national and international platforms focused on events, networking, recruitment and gamification. None offered a persistent Marketplace where participants could choose rewards and redeem them directly using their points.
Participant research: we collected 38 responses. The most valued benefits included CV reviews, coffee chats, workshops, interviews and other opportunities with an academic or professional impact.
Company interviews: we interviewed 2 companies, which highlighted the importance of promoting more meaningful interactions while maintaining control over the allocation of higher-value rewards.
Organiser interviews: we interviewed 4 event organisers, who identified engagement as one of their main challenges and were looking for a solution that was easy to manage, with clear rules and mechanisms to prevent misuse.
Based on these findings:
Personas and User Journeys: we represented the needs, motivations and challenges of the three audiences throughout their event experience.
Brainstorming: we explored solutions such as matchmaking, personalised recommendations, missions and smart notifications.
Rewards Marketplace: we selected the solution that most directly addressed the low perceived value of points.
MoSCoW Prioritisation: we defined the essential MVP features, ensuring value for users while remaining feasible within the six weeks of the program.
The developers prepared an architecture divided into two main components:
Marketplace API: responsible for business logic, authentication, database access, requests and integration with klatchpoint.
Marketplace WebApp: responsible for the pages, components and interactions available to the different users.
The frontend and backend were organised into separate GitLab projects, making collaboration, version control and future development easier.
A relational database was also created to support users, events, companies, rewards, redemption requests, badges, QR Codes and metrics.
Benefits of this architecture
Makes future integrations easier;
Allows the Marketplace to evolve independently;
Keeps the codebase more organised;
Simplifies maintenance and the implementation of new features.
The design process began by defining the application's architecture and its main navigation flows.
Low and high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes were developed to quickly validate the organisation of content before development began.
One of the main challenges was adapting the experience to different user profiles. After logging in, users choose the event and role they want to access as: participant, company or organiser.
The navigation and available features automatically adapt to this choice.
We created a design system consistent with the klatchpoint. identity, including colours, typography, buttons, forms, tables, icons and navigation components.
The use of reusable components helped maintain consistency across the different dashboards and made the transition from design to development smoother.
The application was also designed to adapt to different screen sizes, ensuring a responsive and consistent experience.
The result is a web application integrated with klatchpoint., organised around three complementary experiences.
Each profile only has access to the features relevant to its context, while maintaining a shared visual identity throughout the platform.
For participants, the focus was on creating a simple experience centred around discovering relevant rewards.
Users can check their points balance, view the badges they have earned and explore the catalogue available for the event.
Each reward includes information such as:
Cost;
Stock;
Responsible company;
Terms of use;
Required badges and other requirements.
After choosing a reward, participants can submit a redemption request and track its status.
When applicable, a QR Code is generated to confirm the in-person delivery or use of the reward.
The company dashboard allows companies to create, edit and manage the rewards available during the event.
Companies can define costs, stock, requirements and access conditions, as well as monitor redemption requests submitted by participants.
They can also view metrics related to reward performance and identify which rewards generated the most interest.
This way, the Marketplace becomes more than just a rewards catalogue. It also becomes a new channel for connecting companies and participants.
The organiser dashboard provides an overview of the Marketplace and how it is being used throughout the event.
From this area, organisers can monitor companies, participants, rewards, requests and overall metrics.
The organiser maintains oversight of the platform, while the day-to-day management of rewards can be shared with companies.
Activity logs also provide greater transparency and control over the main actions carried out within the platform.
Communication was also part of the development of the klatchpoint.marketplace.
Throughout the Summer Program, content was created for Codepoint’s social media channels, following the different stages of the internship and showcasing the evolution of the project from Discovery through design and development.
At the same time, additional content concepts were developed specifically to support the Marketplace communication, exploring its identity, value proposition and different ways of presenting the solution to users.
Some of this content was published during the program, while other pieces remained as communication proposals and supporting materials for the product.
More than simply showcasing the final result, the goal was to create communication that followed the project’s evolution and made the Marketplace clearer, more approachable and more recognisable.
In six weeks, we transformed an opportunity identified during the Discovery phase into a functional MVP consisting of a web application, an API and a relational database.
The project demonstrated how a system based on rankings and badges can evolve into an experience where points unlock rewards and opportunities with real value.
More than developing a new feature, we built a solution capable of creating value for participants, companies and organisers.
As a team, we strengthened our technical, creative and management skills while taking part in every stage of developing a digital product.
Despite being developed within a limited timeframe, the klatchpoint. marketplace includes the main flows required to demonstrate the solution.
In this video, it is possible to follow the experience from authentication and profile selection through to discovering and redeeming a reward.
The management areas used by companies and organisers are also presented.
This demonstration highlights the work developed by the team and the solution's potential for future growth.
Following this first phase, the goal is to continue developing the Marketplace iteratively:
Test the solution with participants, companies and organisers;
Deepen the integration with klatchpoint.;
Improve the responsive experience and accessibility;
Strengthen validation and misuse prevention mechanisms;
Explore personalised recommendations and matchmaking;
Develop more advanced metrics and reports.
The immediate goal is to consolidate the MVP, gather real feedback and prepare the solution for future use at events.
Building the klatchpoint. marketplace meant transforming a points system into a solution with practical value for participants, companies and organisers.
The project began with a simple question: how can we make the points earned at an event valuable beyond the ranking?
Through research, interviews, benchmarking, ideas, design and development, the team arrived at a solution that connects participation with rewards and opportunities chosen by the users themselves.
More than creating a rewards catalogue, the goal was to design an experience capable of encouraging genuine interactions, increasing the value of event participation and bringing participants and companies closer together in a more meaningful way.
A huge thank you to Codepoint for providing us with everything we needed, from a dynamic and collaborative environment to all the tips, advice and moments that made this possible.
